Askari Metals (AS2) has commenced an inaugural exploration drilling campaign at its Horry copper-gold project in Western Australia.

The company has planned 2500 metres of reverse circulation at the project to mainly focus on the Horry Horse copper prospect, from where it has collected several samples grading up to 8.5 per copper.

Askari plans to test for potential strike extensions to the prospect and for gold mineralisation near the Mt Dockrell workings.

Vice President of Geology and Exploration John Lambrechts said he was excited to begin the drilling given the positive surface results received from the project so far.

“Finding high-grade copper below the surface in this drilling program will be an accelerant for future exploration activities,” Mr Lambrechts said.

Based on the results from this initial phase of drilling, Askari may then complete step-out drilling to test for further strike extensions.

Shares in Askari Metals were up 3.75 per cent to trade at 41.5 cents at 10:16 am AEST.
